This is probably quickly heading off topic, but I don't think it's job
protectionism as much as people not being able (or not wanting) to
agree. It's the same reason we don't have world peace, all the same
religion and/or political beliefs, or a world govt. Because it would
require a lot of co-ordination and everyone following the same rules,
and that's *NEVER* going to happen.
I maintain software on multiple platforms, and I run into this almost
every day. Certain people are always going to use Windows, certain
ones OSX, and others Linux. That's *not* going to change, so it's
pointless to argue against it.
