[SDL] No images sent to the window

hi, i'm reading a book called focus on SDL and i've made this code
with it. it doesnt do what it's supposed to though. it's supposed to
paint random rectangles on the window but it doesn't. i got a
suggestion or 2 on the freenode chat #SDL, but that didn't change the
output.

i'll put the code on a paste site since it might be easier to read that way.
