Well, at least the compiler of VC6 (which I'd rather call an IDE) is something 
which any serious C++ programmer shouldn't use, several parts of the C++ 
standardlibrary and Boost don't compile with it. I'm not sure how good it 
works if you just stay with C though, but I guess things like the ten years 
advance in the optimizer would be interesting there, too.

Nope, a ten year old, vendor-unsupported compiler is probably not the best 
there is.
