Sometimes is easier and faster to make a 3D model in a program like Blender 
and take as many shots of it as you need. If you don't really like 
the "realism" of this method, you can use the cartoon rendering style in 
order to get a smaller number of colours and a thicker outline. I have done 
complete character animations this way.
