[SDL] [OT] Getting free graphics/sounds

Hi list,

sorry this message is off-topic, but I didn't know where else to ask.

I'm developing a computer game (GPL) which uses SDL. It uses some static
graphics (like floor tiles) and some sprites. The question now is: where
can I get some decent, free graphics, which I could change as needed and
distribute with my GPL game? Same question applies to *decent* sounds.
Most which can be found on the internet is total crap.

I'm primarily looking for little pictures of tanks, jeeps, helicopters
and sprites of explosions (PNG with alpha-channes would be awesome).
Does anybody know a source?

Currently, I've "drawn" those myself... I'm much more of a programmer
than I'm an artist. Needless to say, everything I did looks ridiculously
crappy.
