[SDL] Drive towards 1.2.12...

It's coming up on a year since 1.2.11 was released, so I'm declaring it 
time to make a push for a 1.2.12 release.

I've flagged a pile of bugs in Bugzilla as "Priority 1." These are the 
bugs that should be resolved before 1.2.12 is complete. Please note that 
"resolved" doesn't necessarily mean "fixed," as some may be considered 
and then pushed back to a later release or flagged 
INVALID/WONTFIX/WORKSFORME.

This list can still grow; if you feel there's something that should go 
into a formal release that we've overlooked, please say so. Occasionally 
bugs and patches get missed, and there are some in Bugzilla I've 
specifically (and perhaps unfairly) ignored for this release. If you 
think this is in error, please speak up.

The current list will take some time to complete, and new submissions 
targeted at 1.2.12 are welcome until 1.2.12 ships.

And, of course, patches are welcome, too...I definitely would love to 
not fix all of these myself.   :)
