[SDL] May I consult some cross compile questions?

hello ,

 I want to use the SDL library on the pxa270 plateform.
So I cross compile the SDL source for pxa270.
There are steps when I  built :

1) untar  SDL-1.2.11
(2) NM=arm-linux-nm LD=arm-linux-ld CC=arm-linux-gcc CXX=arm- linux-g++ 
RANLIB=arm-linux-ranlib AR=arm-linux-ar 
(3) ./configure --host=arm-linux --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu 
--prefix=/home/cross-tool/SDL 
(4) make & make install 
(5) cp /home/cross-tool/SDL/* /home/cross-tool/arm-linux/arm-linux/lib/ 

 But It seems that the library I created doesn't work.
 And when I do the step 3 , there are some messages as follows :
 checking for arm-linux-g++... no 
checking for arm-linux-c++... no 
checking for arm-linux-gpp... no 
checking for arm-linux-aCC... no 
checking for arm-linux-CC... no 
checking for arm-linux-cxx... no 
checking for arm-linux-cc++... no 
checking for arm-linux-cl... no 
checking for arm-linux-FCC... no 
checking for arm-linux-KCC... no 
checking for arm-linux-RCC... no 
checking for arm-linux-xlC_r... no 
checking for arm-linux-xlC... no 

I don't know whether the libraray works on the PXA270 or not.
Could someone help me?
