[SDL] Video mode

Hi,

I need to be able to set and get information about the videomode I am
in with SDL very exactly (ie. getting vertical/horizontal refresh rate
like that is displayed in xvidtune). I was wondering if this is
possible with SDL, or whether there are certain assumptions I can make
about what these values are?

Partly what's stumping me, is that if I set the screen res in SDL to
640 by 480, does it actually change the monitor screen mode, and if
so, what refresh values does it assume.
