Are they all 3D games?  If so, it's all because of the same thing.

Do you have 'glxgears' installed?  Try running it (in a terminal) and see
what FPS it displays.

On my lowly Celeron 300 (overclocked to 450MHz) with a Voodoo 3 2000 video
card, I get about 85 FPS.

A friend of mine has a laptop with a Radeon (running Linux, of course), and
he gets some insane FPS... up in the 1000s or 10s of 1000s.


This definitely is NOT a Linux issue.

As for whether it's even an SDL issue (versus just a XF86 config or something
similar), that's another question.  (It's very likely not SDL, either.)
