[SDL] confused

i've a tnt riva 2 (32mg).
Mandrake just installed  with xfree 4.X runs really slow (impossible to play it)
with xfree 3.x with 3d support (xperimental) runs slow (impossible to play it)
without 3d doesn't run.

why should i do? i said this game but all games i tried in linux goes really slow.
