[SDL] 3d Modeling tools

I am looking for some good 3d modeling tools/programs. All i'm used to 
is using an old 3d studio max version i had on my old pc that i bought 
from a friend. So if there is something that has the same look/feel 
that'd be nice. Generally all i'll be doing with it is designing simple 
levels, texturing and rendering for use in a 2d game. So i need a 
program to do that. I'm no longer using a pc though, i'm now on MacOS 
X, so you can rule out windows stuff.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
