[SDL] SDL_ttf-2.0.5 problem

Okay I can answer some of this now.
It's a -repeatable- bug in freetype.  I have not yet found the actual
cause or solution...
*sigh*
any ideas please CC via personal email if possible - for some reason I'm
still having problems receiving mail from libsdl's host site.  Considering
I don't have problems with any other lists I suspect this to be Yet
Another Telus boggle.  (I'm running on a static IP DSL connection)
